Our first microscopy expedition occurred in August of 2015 with only three team members, New York City based BioArtist Darya Warner, Miami based gallery owner Sebastiano Varoli, and Cape Cod based Biologist Joe DeGiorgis. Organisms were collected with snorkeling gear on both the Atlantic and Caribbean sides of the island.  The above image is a close up of a flame scallop.  The image was taking with a Stereo microscope at a 5X magnification. The scallop was returned to its home in sweetings pond after the photoshoot was completed.

Searching for warm weather in January of 2016 Joe and Istanbul-based artist Ayse Gul Suter scanned the waters edge of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. The above image is a green egg mass attached to coralline algae collected in volcanic tide pools. Who know who the proud parents are. The image was taking in a small bedroom overlooking the town square of Garachico a small fishing village along the northwestern edge of the island. The image was taken on the eve of Three Kings Day amidst the celebration, parade in the square and fireworks -focusing knob of microscope in one hand, glass of Rioja in the other.
